The Countess of Mar asked Her Majesty's Government: Further to the Written Answer by the Lord Davies of Oldham on 25th October (WA 168), how they intend to ensure that all contaminated air events are reported when the British Airline Pilots Association survey of contaminated air events conducted in 2002 revealed that more than 90 per cent of such events were not reported. [HL2311]
Lord Davies of Oldham: The mechanism for the reporting of contaminated air events is well established through the Civil Aviation Authority's Mandatory Occurrence Reporting Scheme, the purpose of which is to receive reports of incidents affecting airworthiness. The survey carried out by the British Airline Pilots Association included events that were not safety-related.
