“Due to a fume event, a Lufthansa B747 had to return shortly after take-off on 1st August.
The B747-8I registration D-ABYS was to fly from Frankfurt to Sao Paulo and was climbing, when a strong and unbearable smell (..) occurred as the “Aviation Herald” reports.
The pilots aborted the climb at 23,000 feet, discussed the further course of action, and finally decided to return to Frankfurt, where the aircraft landed safely 35 minutes after takeoff.
Some of the passengers complained about health problems as a result of the Fume event and had to be given medical care after landing. The other travelers were flown to their destination with a replacement aircraft.” (sources) reported by Aviation Herald and Austrianwings, read original here
