Betreff: NPA - oil fume contamination

Dear EASA.

Please find attached report which I submitted after an event on board of a British Airways flight. I learned that this event has not been reported - as required by UK legislation - to the UK CAA and therefore no action has been taken.

I further would like to direct your attention to the Customer Care Department of BA. I informed them the same day by phone and inquired what steps have to be taken now in order to determine the status of my health. I never got any response from British Airways until today

I believe underreporting of such events, lack of knowledge and no legal requirements on behalf of the Airlines and their representatives lead to he point that such events are not properly reported, recorded and no counter-measures are taken to prevent them in the future. Further no specific guidelines are given to passengers and crew what doctors should look at after exposure took place. I noticed that the US DoT has a checklist online for physicians on how to proceed in case that a fume event and contamination with oil fumes has to be suspected. I believe similar measures should be taken asap in Europe.

Kind regards

Tim van Beveren
